The Actifile team continuously improves pre-defined classifiers associated with the regulations you rely on. To take advantage of the latest improvements, be sure to check the Classifier Updates page regularly.
How to update my classifiers?
Manage all customers’ updates (for MSPs)
As an MSP, you can manage classifier updates for all your customers in one place:
Step 1. Open the Partner Portal and navigate to Classifier Updates.
Step 2. You’ll see a list of your partner users. Expand each entry to view the corresponding customer accounts, the regulations applied to these accounts, and the associated classifiers.
Step 3. If updates are required, the Update button will be active. You can:
- Apply updates selectively to specific customers, regulations, or classifiers.
- Apply updates to all customer accounts in a single click.
Manage a specific customer’s updates
To update classifiers for a specific customer:
Step 1. Navigate to Deployment > Classifiers > Classifier Updates.
Step 2. You’ll see a list of regulations applied to the customer’s account, along with an indication of whether updates are required. To view the classifiers associated with each regulation, expand its row or click Expand All at the top to display all classifiers.
Step 3. If updates are needed, you can:
- Use the Update All button at the top to update everything at once.
- Update classifiers individually.
- Update all classifiers within a specific regulation.
What if a classifier has been customized?
Actifile allows you to customize predefined classifiers to better align with your organization’s requirements and enable data protection actions, such as encryption or file operation blocking.
Note: Updates to classifiers do not affect enabled data protection actions. For example, if encryption is activated for a classifier requiring updates, it will remain enabled even after the updates are applied.
If you’ve modified the conditions for a classifier (the types of files it flags) and want those customizations to remain unchanged, you can block updates for that classifier.
How to Block Updates for Customized Classifiers:
Step 1. Navigate to Deployment > Classifiers > Active Classifiers.
Step 2. Find the classifier you’ve customized.
Step 3. Check the box in the Block Auto-Update column.
This ensures your customizations remain intact when you apply changes from the Classifier Updates section.
