Actifile offers two ways to monitor sensitive data activities: Alerts for detecting high-value uploads and Create Case for tracking file operations on classified data. This guide explains how each works and when to use them.
Actifile provides two distinct ways to get notified about events involving sensitive data:
- The Alert System sends email notifications when the value of uploaded sensitive data exceeds predefined thresholds.
- The Create Case feature in Classifiers allows tracking specific file operations on classified data for selected devices and applications.
Below, we’ll explain how each feature works and when to use them.
Setting Up Notifications for Data Upload Spikes
Actifile’s alert system can notify you when the dollar value of sensitive data uploads exceeds a defined threshold. You can configure notifications for the following scenarios:
- The total data upload value exceeds the set threshold.
- A single process exceeds the threshold.
- Daily data upload anomaly is detected.

Monitoring File Operations on Classified Data
If you need to track file operations on specific classified files, Actifile allows you to create cases in the classifier settings. This feature enables alerts when certain actions are performed on flagged files. You can configure notifications for:
- File extension changes.
- Transfers to removable devices.
- File uploads.
- File deletions.
Additionally, you can refine notifications to monitor events on specific devices or applications, allowing more granular control over security alerts.
